Why I am doing this blog
I was diagnosed with angiosarcoma primary in the breast in July of 2009. Probably the worst day of my life so far. A double mastectomy later I am feeling so healthy and strong. I have said no to radiation and chemo and am healing my cancer with nutrition and lifestyle changes. Detoxing is big right now in my life as my cancer is very much environmental toxins related. My amazing husband has built an infrared sauna behind our house and I am following the Budwig Protocol which has detoxed my body of all bad fats. My recipes might not be 100% Budwig compliant but it's up to you if you are a Budwig follower to make your own choices about what you want to eat. Don't tell me if I am not compliant. I know.
I am an American living in England for the last 7 years and I have to say that the health care i have received here has been really outstanding. I can't understand what Americans are so scared of to nationalise their healthcare. If I lived in America when I was diagnosed I might not of had insurance as I was self employed running a very small sewing businesses. What would I of done then? Plus I am offered breast reconstruction and fake boobs to put in my bra as well if I feel the need. If I did have minimal insurance I would not of been offered these things.
Anyway I have decided to do this website to share healthy good food with people and mostly to keep track of my recipes as it makes me write things down and I can now reference back to them which is very useful! I always forget how I make things. I tend not to make the same thing twice and that goes as well with my other passion which is sewing. I screen-print beautiful images with non-toxic ink onto reclaimed leather and make wallets, change purses, coasters and other bits and pieces. Check out my shop here.
